As longtime viewers are already well aware, one resounding truth about The View is that it’s gonna spark some serious debates.

Where did the rumor come from?

It all started in early Jan. 2025 when the gossip-heavy YouTube account Uncensored Insight claimed Melania Trump was suing The View. Unsurprisingly, this alleged news quickly went viral. The video was then shared on Facebook, where it spread like wildfire. The video even included a dramatic headline: “Melania Trump SUES ‘The View’ Hosts For $100 Million After They Said This About Her LIVE ON SET.”

According to the claims, Melania was allegedly suing the show for disparaging comments made about her during a live broadcast. Supporters of the former First Lady were quick to rally behind her, while critics questioned whether the lawsuit was actually real. Another rumor claimed she was suing Sunny Hostin specifically for comments made about her and Donald Trump’s son, Barron. To understand the context, we need to rewind a few months.

During a Sept. 2024 episode of The View, the co-hosts discussed Melania’s first interview in two years, which she gave to Fox News. In the interview, Melania talked about her husband’s sense of humor, their shared love of music, and how much she admires his determination. Needless to say, the hosts didn’t hold back with their opinions. Whoopi mocked the idea of Trump having a sense of humor while Sunny suggested that Melania and Donald weren’t as different as they might seem. The segment was sharp-tongued as usual, but did it really cross a line that could lead to a lawsuit?

Is Melania Trump suing The View?

No, despite the viral YouTube video saying otherwise, Melania Trump is not suing The View. A thorough search of court records by Distractify shows that no lawsuits have been filed by Melania against the show or its co-hosts. This means there’s zero proof to back this rumor up and it should be taken as such ⏤ a rumor. (Eagle-eyed View-ers will know and appreciate that the show comes armed with many a legal note, often delivered by Sunny directly to the camera, in an attempt to avoid this exact scenario.)

Political onlookers largely agree that Melania Trump has always been a bit of a mystery. Unlike her husband, who thrives being the center of attention, Melania tends to keep a low profile. This reserved nature, combined with her high-profile role as First Lady, made her a frequent target for gossip and speculation the first time her husband became president. While her supporters often come to her defense, her critics are equally vocal about how different she is from First Ladies past.

This dynamic creates fertile ground for exaggerated or outright false stories to spread, especially on platforms like YouTube and Facebook, where sensational headlines get clicks (not helped by the latter’s creator recently ending fact-checking on the platform). As of this writing, the claim that Melania Trump is suing The View for $100 million is baseless and just another example of how quickly rumors can catch fire, especially when they involve polarizing public figures.

Reality stars Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt have been in the news following the devastating loss of their Palisades home in Los Angeles. On Tuesday Montag, mom to seven-year-old Gunner and two-year-old Ryker, shared a tearful video on TikTok in which she detailed the magnitude of the family’s loss.

If there is a silver lining for Montag, it might be that her album Superficial made it to number one on iTunes this week, despite having been released in 2010. Being in the news has also prompted many people to revisit The Hills, the popular reality show that Montag and Pratt starred on from 2006 to 2010.

The reality series was produced by MTV and was a spin-off of Laguna Beach. The series followed several young adults after they graduated high school, including Montag and her costar, Lauren Conrad.

Though Conrad and Montag began the series as friends, they eventually parted ways. All this has resurfaced thanks in part to a second video also shared on TikTok.

The tension between Conrad and Montag goes back several years

Conrad and Montag’s friendship was always shrouded in doubt when the two were castmates on The Hills. The pair met in college, and Conrad helped Montag get a spot on the series. The two eventually fell out in a very public way after Montag’s then-boyfriend, now-husband Spencer Pratt spread a rumor about Conrad’s personal life.

As Montag later told People, Conrad told her she’d be off the show if she and Pratt pursued a relationship — something Montag decided to do anyway. Though Montag said in a second interview with People that she’s open to a reunion with her former friend and costar, it doesn’t feel like that sentiment is shared.

“We would never be the way that we were again, but it would be fun to maybe catch up one day and be mature and be like, ‘Hey that was crazy, I wish you the best,’ type-of-thing,” she explained. “But I don’t think she would be ever ready for that.”

Conrad has been called “high key mean” for her behavior toward Montag

Last week a clip from The Hills that features an excited Montag telling Conrad she’s landed her “dream job” was shared on TikTok — and it garnered a big reaction from a lot of people. Though the video’s caption describes Conrad’s reaction as “low key mean,” one of the top comments insists, “This is actually what you’d call high key mean girl.”

In the clip in question, Conrad is seen negatively reacting to Montag’s news. She pretends to lose connection by hanging up her cell phone, and then sings “Beauty School Dropout” from Grease in an effort to mock Montag. Neither former reality star has commented on the controversy.

When Netflix signed their £100 million deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle we doubt they expected they’d get a documentary about polo (that doesn’t feature Harry or Meghan) and a cooking show. But, despite Markle not being previously noted for her culinary talents, the trailer for With Love, Meghan certainly ignited a lot of discussion.

Royal watchers saw the show as Markle potentially extending an “olive branch” to Kate Middleton and Meghan McCain decried the idea and execution as “utterly tone deaf.” Meanwhile Royal insiders claim the Royal Family is eager for the show to be a hit, if only so the couple won’t need to “exploit their royal connections again.”

Unfortunately for Meghan and Netflix, events have now overtaken them. As per its logline, the show is intended as “a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California,” a locale which, as of writing, is somewhat less of a paradise than it was a month ago. The LA wildfires have torn through tens of thousands of homes, leaving entire neighborhoods devastated and making communities homeless overnight. So, as far as vibe checks go, a show in which a fabulously rich woman swans about her luxurious (and unburned) California home showing us peons how to chop vegetables doesn’t pass muster.

All of which is why Netflix and Markle have slammed the brakes on With Love, Meghan and pushed it back to Mar. 4. The announcement was made by Netflix’s Tudum, who say the delay was at Markle’s explicit request and is directly linked to the wildfires. As Markle said:

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.”

This is at least in line with Harry and Meghan’s reaction to the fires over the last week. Their home in Montecito is safe (for now), so they opened their doors to evacuated family and friends and have been visible in disaster relief efforts, and have used their considerable stardom to fundraise for charitable causes connected to the fires.

It should be underlined that Montecito is by no means a safe haven. Winds are expected to pick up once again over the coming week, potentially spreading yet more burning embers far and wide across the region. Harry and Meghan’s neighborhood is in a “high-risk area,” already facing a potential evacuation order and the pair have rapidly drawn up contingency plans to get their children to safety should the flames come their way.

It’s very possible that by the time With Love, Meghan airs the home depicted in the show will be a smoking pile of ashes and burnt bricks, giving the show a rather depressing atmosphere. For now, all the Sussexes can do is nervously watch and wait. The flames don’t care how aristocratic the blood in your veins is or how powerful the family you’ve married into are. At least the Sussexes would be able to rebuild and move on, unlike those sifting through the ashes of their home for family heirlooms while struggling to figure out how to move forward without insurance.

Ahsoka fans have been left with mixed feelings after the Star Wars spinoff series confirmed a new castmate, with Rory McCann set to replace the late Ray Stevenson in the role of Baylan Skoll. 

Stevenson died in May 2023 after suffering a brief illness and was beloved by Ahsoka fans, for his resonant voice, gravitas, and complex portrayal of a conflicted Force-using villain that isn’t a lightning-spewing cackling space wizard. Stevenson was known Punisher: War Zone, Rome, Dexter and Thor, while McCann is known for his roles in Game of Thrones, Hot Fuzz and, more recently, Gladiator II. 

Stevenson and McCann were friends, with the former actor’s wife giving her blessing for McCann to inherit the role. McCann has a few months to prepare for the role, with season two of Ahsoka going into production in May. In the meantime, fans have reacted to the recasting in anticipation of McCann’s arrival in the series, with the sentiment seeming largely positive. “Oh, let’s gooo,” one fan quipped on X, with another adding that McCann “stole the show on Game of Thrones” and describing it as “fantastic casting” on the part of production company, Lucasfilm. 

“He will do great,” a third user declared, while others agreed that McCann is “a solid replacement” for Stevenson and “will do the role justice.” Elsewhere, fans said that while it’ll be “tough shoes to fill,” McCann is “a fantastic actor” who is “made for these types of roles” and whose casting “was the right decision for the story.” Even beyond the simple recasting, fans reacted positively to continue on with the character of Baylan Skoll rather than writing him off, since the former Jedi is “way too interesting” and there has been “too much lore set up” within season one of Ahsoka. 

“Rory McCann will fit in the role,” another user wrote, “he’s a good actor.” As far as recastings go, Stevenson’s replacement has been received far more welcomingly among fans than some other titles. In Game of Thrones, for example, the replacement of Ed Skrein with Michael Huisman in the role of Daario Naharis was met with confusion given their dissimilar appearance, while Ruby Rose’s departure in the title role of Batwoman — to make way for Javicia Leslie — likewise stirred controversy and rumors. 

But for Ahsoka recasting was the only feasible option. Baylan Skoll and his apprentice, Ivanna Sakhno’s Shin Hati, were by some distance the most interesting characters in Ahsoka, though they were frustratingly absent in the season one finale, only appearing in very brief, dialogue-free scenes at the close of the episode.

We should at least be thankful that Disney and Lucasfilm chose not to embrace the dark art of digitally resurrecting Stevenson for a posthumous deepfaked performance. This route must have been discussed given that Star Wars has already used CGI tech to bring back Peter Cushing and Carrie Fisher, but in this instance we think it’s a fitting tribute to Stevenson to have his friend take up the lightsaber.

As one of the longest-running soap operas on television, it’s not surprising when characters leave Eastenders. And it’s even less of a shock when someone is killed off. After all, the drama has to come from somewhere.

However, some plotlines leave viewers dumbfounded, especially when they end up with a long-running and beloved character getting the boot from the show. While it’s the nature of soaps to need new blood every so often, this can feel a bit brutal to viewers who have grown to identify with certain characters.

So, it’s unsurprising to find out that many viewers were worried about the fate of Eve Unwin (played by Heather Peace) after a tumultuous wedding episode in which she and fiance Suki faced a dramatic and potentially deadly outcome, thanks to the actions of Suki’s malicious and controlling ex-husband Nish. So, is Eve leaving Eastenders after getting killed off? Read on to find out!

Who is Eve in Eastenders?

Eve Unwin first appeared in Eastenders in late 2021. She was introduced as the ex-wife of Stacey Slater, whom she married in prison in order to be released on probation.

Eve has had a rough life in many ways, having been abused by her family for her sexuality. She did manage to become a solicitor, but was disbarred after assaulting a man. Her introduction to Albert Square was suitably violent, with Unwin punching a couple of characters as she believed they were responsible for Stacey winding up in prison.

Throughout 2022, Eve and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) slowly fell in love, and after a few very dramatic, soap-worthy hiccups, they were due to get married in the first episode of 2025. However, Suki’s abusive ex-husband Nish was ready to spoil their special day in a deadly fashion…

Is Eve leaving Eastenders?

Fans of the character can rejoice: no, Eve is not leaving Eastenders. While Nish did manage to successfully get Eve to drink poisoned champagne, she was taken to hospital and survived. This was also true of Suki, who fell off a balcony alongside her controlling ex. Thankfully, it was Nish who paid the ultimate price for his skullduggery, while the newlyweds managed to pull through.

As it transpires, Peace was never going to see her character killed off in this way, thanks to a bargain she struck with Eastenders bosses when she took on the role. As per The Express, Peace wanted to avoid her character falling into a tragic trope that has befallen many other lesbian characters in popular media: dying unexpectedly:

“I’m very well aware of this, I understand my community…I’ve done a radio show where we’ve talked about this. Lesbians quite often meet a bad end, like, proportionately way more so than any other…And the one thing I did say to the producers was, ‘You want rid of me?’ And they’re very open to talking. I said, ‘At any point you can get rid of me, but I’m asking you now: Don’t kill her off.'”

Thankfully for the many fans of Eve, the producers have stayed true to their word…for now.

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is tired of her haters. In the trailer for the second season of Life After Lockup, Blanchard fires back at people who have criticized her and questioned the paternity of her new baby, born Dec. 28, 2024.

As seen in the trailer, Blanchard’s ex Ryan Anderson took a paternity test after Aurora Raina Urker was born, despite the fact that she was sure her current boyfriend Ken Urker is the baby’s father. Anderson said the test was required by the state of Louisiana, where all involved parties live, since Blanchard and Anderson’s divorce hasn’t been finalized.

“So in the state of Louisiana, the law states that if a child is conceived within a marriage, the husband is the presumed father of that child,” Blanchard explains in the trailer. Urker also says that he wishes the pair had conceived their daughter after Blanchard was divorced.

“I’ve already seen comments online of people saying it should have been a condition of my parole to get my tubes tied,” Blanchard adds. “The test is less for the public and more for Ryan (Anderson) to say, ‘Hey dude, you’re not the father. Accept it and move on.'”

Blanchard’s pregnancy was a surprise to the pair. Blanchard and Anderson separated in April 2024 and she and Urker began dating soon after. Blanchard found out she was pregnant in May.

Only a few players in Survivor history have matched the impact of Rob Mariano, known to fans as Boston Rob. As the record-holder for the most seasons played, he’s found a good balance when it comes to strategy.

Mariano has competed on Survivor five times, leaving a lasting impression. He debuted in Marquesas finishing 10th place and returned for All-Stars, where he lost in the finale to his future wife, Amber Brkich. After finishing 13th in Heroes vs. Villains, he dominated Redemption Island, winning the $1 million prize. His final competition was Winners at War where he finished 17th place, but he returned as a mentor on Island of the Idols.

In an interview with People, Mariano looked back on his journey and admitted that he was ruthless, especially in All-Stars. “I legitimately did everything that I needed to do to get to the end. I cut throats, I killed friendships and I expected them to give it to me at the end,” he shared. His strategy was enough to make it to the final voting, but it failed to get the jury’s votes. While he didn’t claim the title, he still scored a major win by proposing to Brkich during the live finale and leaving with a fiancee. The two have been together ever since and are parents to four girls.

He took what he learned from that season and used it to find a balance between playing the game and understanding that other players aren’t “game pieces,” adding that a good strategy is to focus on being the Sole Survivor while maintaining good relationships with other contestants. “You have to understand they’re people, they have feelings, and act accordingly,” he stated.

Boston Rob has since appeared in other reality competition shows

Beyond Survivor, Mariano has also competed alongside Brkich in two seasons of The Amazing Race, where the couple finished 2nd and 8th place. He was also a contestant on the first season of Deal or No Deal Island, where he was eliminated at the final four challenge. Mariano said he went into the game having a strategy, but his history of playing in reality competition shows made him a target. Despite not winning, he said he was “really happy with my place in the history of all of it.” Now, he’s returning as the host of the after show for season two of Deal or No Deal Island.

As for returning to Survivor, Mariano is interested in coming back if the show’s format makes some changes in terms of the competition, as he feels like he will be voted out early just because of his history on the show. Survivor host Jeff Probst has announced that season 50, which will start filming this year, will consist of past players, and many fans want Boston Rob back. As of now, Probst remains tight-lipped about potential cast members for the milestone season.

Meanwhile, Mariano will be appearing as a contestant on The Traitors season 3, where he will go up against other former Survivor contestants including Carolyn Wiger, Jeremy Collins, and two-time Sole Survivor Tony Vlachos. While foraging for food in the wilderness won’t be a concern this time, the cloak-and-dagger dynamics of the game is the kind of challenge he excels at, and he shared, “It’s going to be frigging awesome.” The Traitors season 3 premieres on Jan. 9 on Peacock.

Rapping as he stepped out of the limo to meet Jenn Tran on The Bachelorette season 21 — it is safe to say that brand new Bachelor Grant Ellis is a musical maestro. In fact, in a silly game of 20 questions with Bachelor Nation — where he discussed his favorite emojis, his guilty pleasures, his pet peeves and more — the New Jersey native deemed beatboxing as his hidden talent. How impressive is that?

Now, serving as the lead of The Bachelor season 29 — as well as the second African-American man to be the Bachelor (after Matt James) — Grant’s affinity for beatboxing, as well as rap and R&B music, will allegedly make its way into the show we know and love.

According to Reality Steve, the first two group dates of The Bachelor season 29 will highlight Grant’s passions. While the first group date of the season will feature a high-stakes game of five-on-five basketball, the second group date of the season will feature (you guessed it) a rap battle. The Bachelor Nation know-it-all spilled:

“There was a group date with seven women that was at the Bellwether Theater in LA, and it was an R&B date with Mario… The women had to come up with about a 30 second rap.”

Unfortunately for one of Grant’s gals, Alexe Godin, this “small-town girl looking for a big-time love” might not find it on The Bachelor season 29. Well, as long as she is a part of the above group date…

While Alexe admitted that she is “addicted to cooking competition shows” and “loves ketchup chips,” there is one aspect of her personality that will seemingly clash with Grant. When asked to share a third fun fact about herself with ABC, she admitted that she “doesn’t do karaoke.”

Given how much Grant loves to sing, we cannot see a world in which this relationship works out beyond The Bachelor. Yikes!
