Good news! We may now know the exact runtime of incoming MCU movie Captain America: Brave New World. Bad news! Marvel fans probably aren’t going to like it…

With the previous Marvel Studios film coming last summer in the form of $1.3 billion blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, we’ve had an atypically long time to wait until another MCU came our way (I mean, Sony offered up Venom 3 and Kraven the Hunter, but, well, they hardly count). The pressure is on Brave New World to deliver, then. Especially as it serves as the follow-up to the universally acclaimed Captain America trilogy, starring Chris Evans as the Star-Spangled Man.

There are certainly enough elements in the mix to blow MCU lovers away. As the film’s marketing has hinged on, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will be joined by Harrison Ford as President Red Hulk (a corrupt POTUS with an inhuman skin tone? Where do they get their ideas!). Then there’s Tim Blake Nelson’s the Leader back in the mix, for the first time since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Not to mention rumors of a certain team of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes re-assembling.

All of that is why the film’s apparent runtime may come as something of a surprise.

Brave New World‘s reported runtime would make it the shortest Captain America movie yet

Now that we’re only one month exactly from Brave New World swooping into cinemas, AMC Theaters has updated its listing for the film. According to the AMC site, Captain America 4 will sport a runtime of exactly 1 hour, 58 minutes.

This will come as a surprise to fans for a few reasons. For starters, because IMDb — which is never a reliable source of intel at the best of times, but still — previously listed Brave New World‘s runtime as 2 hours, 15 minutes. Given AMC’s update, this appears to have been more of a placeholder runtime based on an educated guess. And a 135-minute length would make a lot more sense. If AMC’s listing is to be believed, Cap 4 will be the shortest film in the series to date.

It’s notable any time a Marvel film slips under 2 hours, but it’s particularly surprising when it comes to the traditionally giant-sized Cap franchise. 2011’s The First Avenger may have only been 2 hours, 4 minutes, but things soon expanded when the Russos took the reins. 2014’s The Winter Soldier is 2 hours, 16 minutes with 2016’s Civil War even longer at 2 hours, 27 minutes. Brave New World may end up a full half-hour shorter than its predecessor.

Given what we know of its extremely troubled post-production period, which involved poor test screenings and extensive reshoots, a truncated runtime doesn’t exactly bode well for Brave New World. Then again, many of the most popular MCU movies — including Guardians of the Galaxy (2 hours, 1 minute) and Iron Man (2 hours, 6 minutes) — are on the shorter side, so this isn’t necessarily a reason to despair just yet. We’ll find out if Captain America 4 can prove that size doesn’t matter come Feb. 14.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ facing unexpected delay due to LA fires, and that means it just broke an MCU record for all the wrong reasons https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/daredevil-born-again-facing-unexpected-delay-due-to-la-fires-and-that-means-it-just-broke-an-mcu-record-for-all-the-wrong-reasons/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/daredevil-born-again-facing-unexpected-delay-due-to-la-fires-and-that-means-it-just-broke-an-mcu-record-for-all-the-wrong-reasons/#respond Mon, 13 Jan 2025 20:02:57 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1824115 'Daredevil: Born Again' is delayed... again. ]]>

Daredevil: Born Again fans, it looks like you’re going to have to hold on just a little longer. While Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock has swung by the MCU for the occasional cameo here in there over the past few years — in Spider-Man: No Way Home, She-Hulk, and Echo, respectively — we’re still waiting on our first real look at his proper return in his very own Disney Plus revival. In a happier world, though, that wait would’ve been over this week.

Thanks to reports, fans were fully expecting a new trailer for Born Again to drop any day now, but sadly that isn’t to be anymore, and for good reason. The Kingpin of Crime himself Vincent D’Onofrio confirmed to a fan on X this Jan. 13 that the trailer had been “postponed due to LA fires.” That said, he promised that the sneak peek is on its way. “It’s coming,” the Wilson Fisk actor assured.

The trailer’s delay might be a minor annoyance to Daredevil diehards, but needless to say it’s an absolutely acceptable and appropriate response from Marvel Studios amid the awful situation in Los Angeles this month. In truth, the Born Again trailer was already tardy, so this new delay has hardly made a difference. Whatever happened, the Daredevil revival was all set to break a Marvel TV record nobody wanted broken.

Daredevil: Born Again‘s trailer isn’t even out yet, and it’s already broken a Disney Plus record

As of Jan. 13, Daredevil: Born Again is just 50 days away from hitting screens. While that is undoubtedly something to celebrate, the fact that we’re this close to its premiere and have yet to receive a full trailer marks an unwanted MCU record. Whenever the trailer eventually lands, it will be the shortest gap between the release of a trailer for a Marvel Disney Plus show and the release of the show itself.

Again, this can’t be blamed on this new delay as Born Again would’ve earned this unfortunate record in any case. The previous record-holder for the slowest trailer arrival for a Marvel show was that of Loki season 2, which dropped its first teaser 66 days prior to the season’s premiere. So even if Daredevil had managed to release its trailer this week as planned, there still would’ve been no contest in this competition between the trailer-come-latelys.

So why the reason for the long hold-out? Is Marvel nervous to finally unveil how Born Again ultimately shaped out? After all, it went through a gargantuan rehaul behind the scenes, which is why it first started shooting in 2023 and we’re only just seeing it now, two years later. With any luck, though, the studio knows it’s sitting on something great and this is merely a way to build suspense for what is surely the most highly anticipated superhero series of the year. It’s anyone’s guess when the trailer will finally get here, but Daredevil: Born Again is set to emerge from the shadows onto streaming come March 4.

‘He was very generous’: A ‘Lord of the Rings’ legend had a surprising impact on ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/he-was-very-generous-a-lord-of-the-rings-legend-had-a-surprising-impact-on-the-fantastic-four-first-steps/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/he-was-very-generous-a-lord-of-the-rings-legend-had-a-surprising-impact-on-the-fantastic-four-first-steps/#respond Wed, 08 Jan 2025 17:45:56 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1821992 There was no one better to lend a hand. ]]>

The list of failures from previous FF adaptations that The Fantastic Four: First Steps must fix is longer than Reed Richards can stretch, but something earlier iterations of the franchise have actually already nailed is The Thing. No, not the uncanny nudist rock monster played by Jamie Bell in 2015’s Fant4stic, but Michael Chiklis’s beautifully practical Ben Grimm from the mid-aughts movies.

While some fans might’ve wished Marvel would’ve gone the old-fashioned route with the character again in 2025, star Ebon Moss-Bachrach has already confirmed that his version will be realized with CGI. We know all too well how a comic book film relying too much on VFX can go wrong, but thankfully Moss-Bachrach’s latest revelation about the celebrity helping hand he received in bringing The Thing to life suggests we’re in for something special this summer.

Which Lord of the Rings icon helped bring The Thing to life in The Fantastic Four?

While speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Moss-Bachrach revealed that he had a mentor when it came to mastering the art of MoCap, and it seems he learned from the best. A certain MCU veteran and Middle-earth mainstay apparently gave the actor some much-needed pointers, which bodes well for his upcoming performance as Ben Grimm.

“Andy Serkis, who’s sort of the godfather of motion capture, he’s got this company called The Imaginarium, which is at Pinewood Studio where we shot Fantastic Four, and he was very generous,” Moss-Bachrach told Kimmel, confirming that The Hobbit alum taught him the ropes.

Andy Serkis is, of course, no stranger to the Marvel multiverse himself, having starred as Ulysses Klaue in both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther and, more recently, playing Knull in Venom: The Last Dance (the sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which he directed). And let’s not forget he’s Alfred in DC’s The Batman films. Is Serkis trying to chomp his way through every superhero franchise like he’s Galactus?

Although this has only made us more intrigued to see the finished form of The Thing, it sounds like we’re still a ways off Ben Grimm in all his clobberin’ glory being unveiled just yet. In the same interview, Moss-Bachrach was quizzed on whether he has seen what he’ll look like when transformed into full Thing mode. Understandably, post-production on the movie — which is on track for an impressively, but also kind of worryingly, fast turnaround — is still ongoing so The Bear vet admitted he has yet to see the final rendering.

“I’ve seen a very crude rendering as it takes a while to build this stuff,” he stated. “They have so many animators working on this. I wear these motion capture suits, two cameras right here so they’re capturing absolutely everything, every nuance, every expression, every thought in my eye.”

With shooting only starting last July, just 12 months ahead of its theatrical release, Marvel hasn’t left itself long to polish First Steps to perfection, so we would hate for its effects to end up looking like the unholy lovechild of Quantumania and Kraven the Hunter. With Serkis sharing the tricks of the trade with Moss-Bachrach, and the actor confirming the VFX team are hard at work and taking their time over it, hopefully The Fantastic Four will dazzle us come July 25. If not, well, I guess we’ll have to wait for the next reboot in 10 years’ time.

We know Robert Downey Jr. will officially return to the MCU next year, in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday, but is there a chance he could be back in the Marvel multiverse as soon as this summer? That’s what fans are hoping for, as surely The Fantastic Four: First Steps can’t come and go without at least a post-credits scene cameo from Downey’s Doctor Doom… Right?

With so much about Marvel’s reboot of the First Family still buried beneath the top-secret security of the Baxter Building, there’s no way the studio is about to announce something this juicy just yet. And yet we know all too well that MCU actors have much looser lips than Kevin Feige and oftentimes they say things they shouldn’t – that’s how we already know a fair chunk of the cast of Doomsday, after all.

The Bear‘s Ebon Moss-Bachrach showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night, and obviously the conversation turned towards The Fantastic Four. As a master of conversational manipulation, Kimmel tried to trick the actor into revealing something big, but to Cousin’s credit, he managed to slip through the ordeal unscathed. Or did he…?

The Fantastic Four‘s Thing actor addresses rumors Robert Downey Jr. will cameo

“Is it true that you and Robert Downey Jr. really hit it off and became good friends on the set?” Kimmel quizzed, matter-of-factly, causing a severely flustered Moss-Bachrach to stumble over his words. “Yeah, we live together now,” he ultimately replied, to laughs from the audience. “He asked me to move in with him.”

When Kimmel changed track and straight-up asked if the star “spent time” with Downey on the film, Moss-Bachrach admitted, “It’s not gonna happen. I’ve been through rigorous media training.” Kimmel should’ve known better than to try and trip the actor up, as this is not Ebon’s first Marvel rodeo. He’s been part of the spoiler-phobic franchise before, having played Micro in Netflix’s The Punisher series last decade.

Of course, the fact that Moss-Bachrach had to try so hard to avoid putting his foot in it may lead some to speculate that he actually has something to hide in the first place. In all honesty, it would be bizarre if Victor Von Doom didn’t make his MCU debut alongside his quartet of nemeses, so the real question is whether he’ll be granted a fair amount of screentime or the briefest of cameos. Going by how the foursome already have Ralph Ineson’s Galactus, Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer, and John Malkovich’s mystery man to contend with, the likelihood is a classic MCU post-credits appearance.

With First Steps scheduled to sail into cinemas on July 25, we really should be getting a proper trailer — following a Comic Con/D23 sneak peek that leaked online last summer — in the coming weeks. Until then, congrats to Downey and Cousin on becoming roomies. Maybe Moss-Bachrach is being so cagey because he doesn’t want to ruin the surprise buddy-cop road movie spinoff Marvel has in store — Doom and the Thing’s Excellent Adventure.

I know, we’ve been hearing about supposed movement on the Young Avengers front since approximately *looks at watch* 2019, but as 2025 kicks into gear we might actually be getting somewhere at long last. Marvel has been taking its sweet, sweet time in bringing the next-gen heroes of the MCU together, with the Multiverse Saga so far sowing the seeds for the team’s arrival at the pace of a Celestial’s gestation (What? Does nobody remember Eternals?).

It’s gotten to the point that the next Avengers movie — which we all thought the Young Avengers project was supposed to act as a precursor for — is entering production before the gang of superpowered young adults has even been officially announced. With any luck, though, more concrete news will be forthcoming now that it seems the project has finally locked in its core ensemble cast. But there’s one thing about the project that fans might not be expecting.

Marvel’s Young Avengers Champions’ roster might have been revealed

Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan In Ms. Marvel

According to the latest word on the street (as originated from frequently cited insider, Daniel Richtman), the heroes who will make up Marvel’s Champions have been unveiled. Yes, Champions, not Young Avengers. It seems the studio has dragged its feet so much in bringing them together that the term Young Avengers isn’t even accurate anymore. We wonder if the fact that Hailee Steinfeld recently became older than Scarlett Johansson was in The Avengers has something to do with that.

As for the reported Champions line-up, the team roster supposedly includes Iman Vellani (Ms. Marvel), the aforementioned Ms. Steinfeld (Kate Bishop), Kathryn Newton (Cassie Lang), Joe Locke (Wiccan), Dominique Thorne (Ironheart), and Xochitl Gomez (America Chavez).

All in all, this is pretty much the ensemble fans have been expecting, as other potential recruits such as She-Hulk‘s Skarr, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s Eli Bradley, and Loki‘s Kid Loki sadly seem to have vanished from the face of the MCU. What’s interesting about this roster, however, is that it inverts the gender disparity of the OG Avengers. In that case, Black Widow was the only woman surrounded by five guys. Now Billy is the only guy in a mostly female team.

In Marvel Comics lore, the Champions are an alternate teen-oriented super-group from the Young Avengers, of which Ms. Marvel is a member (alongside various MCU no-shows like Amadeus Cho, Miles Morales, and Moon Girl). Given Kamala’s central role in this team, having started her own “Kid Avengers” initiative in The Marvels, it probably makes sense to go with the Champions. Besides, for those unfamiliar with the source material, Young Avengers may well have sounded a little too Muppet Babies.

With Ironheart finally premiering on Disney Plus this June 24, it seems likely that we can expect the Champions to recruit themselves a new member as soon as this summer. We’re still not entirely sure what form the project will take, but it seems like Young Avengers Champions will itself be a streaming series and not a movie.

Ryan Reynolds accused of bullying after supposedly basing an obnoxious ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ character off of Justin Baldoni https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/ryan-reynolds-accused-of-bullying-after-supposedly-basing-an-obnoxious-deadpool-wolverine-character-off-of-justin-baldoni/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/ryan-reynolds-accused-of-bullying-after-supposedly-basing-an-obnoxious-deadpool-wolverine-character-off-of-justin-baldoni/#respond Tue, 07 Jan 2025 20:09:54 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1821237 The man bun is a dead give away.]]>

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has earned the ire of a handful of fans after a few have noticed that Nicepool from Deadpool & Wolverine said and did things in the movie that, in the context of the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively drama, seemed to suggest the character is based on Baldoni.

It Ends with Us saw a lot of on-set drama between its two stars, and that drama will potentially be spilling out into a courtroom, with both actors now suing each other. Blake has accused her co-star of sexual harassment, claiming that he behaved inappropriately on set and that he tried to run a smear campaign against her. Meanwhile, Justin has fired back, refuting Lively’s claims and instead claiming she was the one engaging in a smear campaign against him.

Right now the waters are muddy; it’s difficult to know who’s telling the truth and who’s not. Many are supportive of Blake, but others believe Justin’s account of what happened. Regardless, all we know for sure is that things quickly became hostile while on set and they remained that way throughout the movie’s premiere and into today. We also know Lively even brought her husband, Reynolds, on set at one point — apparently the meeting between Baldoni and Reynolds didn’t go well, with the Green Lantern star apparently berating Baldoni and leaving him traumatized.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are accused of bullying

In his lawsuit, Baldoni claims the pair were “bullying” him during the production of the movie. He refuted many of Lively’s other claims and provided text messages that back up his side of the story. His side of the story has won some audiences over, with fans defending him online. Many have even started digging and think they’ve found some solid evidence that Reynolds and Lively were indeed bullying Baldoni. That evidence, of course, is the character Nicepool.

Fans noticed that everything about Nicepool — from the way he looked, to the things he said —allude to Baldoni. One fan on X pointed out that the character looked almost identical to Baldoni from 2023, with his long curly hair and man bun. It’s hard to deny there are some similarities there.

But that’s not all — Nicepool also comments on Ladypool’s post-pregnancy body, (Baldoni allegedly fat-shamed Lively) and, as we all know, Ladypool was played by Lively.

Over on TikTok, people began questioning the scale of the bullying — if Nicepool really was based on Baldoni then this would suggest the bullying goes way beyond social media.

Another TikToker, @theredcoquette, mentioned deleted scenes, which she claims were blatant jabs at Justin.

@theredcoquette

Replying to @Stacey3004 At the very least this will not work in RR and BL’s favor if they go to trial.

♬ original sound – Amy Halldin

Of course it gets worse when you factor in that Nicepool is brutally killed off by Ladypool, and he’s the only version of Deadpool without regenerative powers.

Deadpool & Wolverine’s filming schedule makes this theory unlikely

Now, can we say conclusively that Ryan Reynolds meant this character to be a jab at Justin Baldoni? No we can’t. While the striking similarity might seem like proof enough, it would have been unlikely that Reynolds would have been able to add an entirely new character into the film as all this was happening.

Both movies were filmed around the same time, with both starting mid-2023 before pausing production during the strikes. Deadpool & Wolverine resumed filming in November 2023 and finished in January 2024. Meanwhile, It Ends with Us resumed filming in January 2024. According to CBR.com, Lively’s lawsuit mentions a meeting prior to the resume of filming, which would have been close to the time Deadpool & Wolverine was wrapping up. It’s not impossible that Ryan added Nicepool to troll Baldoni, and then ad-libbed the character’s lines and likeness to Baldoni, but it’s very unlikely.

It’s 2025, so we can officially say that the next Avengers movie will be with us next year! After years of the MCU’s once vibranium-plated reputation taking a beating, it truly feels like a long time since Avengers: Endgame sailed to cinematic superstardom and became (almost) the highest-grossing film of all time with ease. Can Avengers: Doomsday find the same success when it releases in May 2026?

Well, as Deadpool & Wolverine proved, bringing back a boatload of familiar faces for the occasion definitely won’t hurt its chances. Luckily, a bevy of Marvel’s best and brightest are already being assembled behind the scenes. Rest assured, it’s not just the Russo brothers who are making their much-anticipated directorial returns to the MCU for this one. Here’s every actor linked to Doomsday to date.

Robert Downey Jr. (Doctor Doom)

Well, this one goes without saying. Avengers: Doomsday‘s very existence came with the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. would be playing its title character, with the Iron Man icon swapping one metal mask for another as he leaves behind Tony Stark for Victor Von Doom. Expect fans to continue debating the pros and cons of this explosive casting twist for years to come.

Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing)

Similarly, at the same Comic-Con presentation as the Downey revelation, Marvel Studios bigwig Kevin Feige confirmed that Downey would be joined by four other cast members, although unlike him, this quartet are newbies to the MCU scene. Feige assured us that the primary cast of this July’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps will return ASAP for roles in Doomsday. So expect Pascal’s Reed Richards, Kirby’s Sue Storm, Quinn’s Johnny Storm, and Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm to travel from their own universe to the Sacred Timeline.

Anthony Mackie (Captain America)

Trust the loose-lipped Anthony Mackie to confirm something he shouldn’t about his MCU future. While he’s not Mark Ruffalo or Tom Holland (more on him in a moment), Mackie has a habit of saying things he maybe shouldn’t. That said, in this case, finding out the current Captain America will appear in Avengers: Doomsday is hardly a surprise.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back on set with the Russos, they understand this Marvel world in a very unique way,” Mackie gushed to Empire Magazine about his excitement for Doomsday. “And just having [Downey] back adds so much. To see what he brings to the table is just a huge opportunity.”

Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange)

Likewise, no one’s shocked to hear that the would-be Sorcerer Supreme is likewise on hand to return for Doomsday. No, not Wong — although he’d better be in the movie or we’ll riot — but Doctor Strange. Funnily enough, Cumberbatch confirmed his own casting with some comments that are almost word for word what Mackie said, suggesting Marvel may have given them a sheet to read from.

“I’m really excited not only to work with the Russo Brothers again, but to have Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom,” Cumberbatch told Japanese outlet TV Groove. “I think there’s going to be some really cool developments ahead.”

Chris Evans (Steve Rogers?)

That’s it for those who have confirmed the news from their own mouths, so we’re having to rely on trusted reporting from now on. For starters, fans were thrilled when Variety announced in early December 2024 that Chris Evans would be back for Avengers 5. According to the trade’s sources, he’ll play a significant role, too, although it’s too early to confirm which of his Marvel multiversal characters he’ll portray. Still, given who else is back, we can likely hazard a guess…

Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter?)

Just a few days after the Evans news, Deadline reported that Hayley Atwell had joined him in signing up for Avengers: Doomsday. Again, specific details are thin on the ground, but given how early she’s been hired we can assume Atwell has a big role to play in the Russos’ plans. Likewise, while she may be reprising Captain Carter from What If…? and Doctor Strange 2, the presence of Evans indicates Atwell could be back as the OG Peggy Carter. Are we finally about to find out what happened to Steve and Peggy after Endgame?

Tom Holland (Spider-Man)

Image via Marvel Studios/Sony

Many overlooked this, but back when Tom Holland was confirmed to be teaming up with Spider-Man co-star and IRL girlfriend Zendaya for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming The Odyssey adaptation, THR‘s breaking of the story revealed one intriguing detail. The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Holland has three projects to shoot in 2025, with his Nolan venture and Spider-Man 4 joined by a “likely stop” in Avengers: Doomsday. Fingers crossed he brings Andrew and Tobey with him.

Charlie Cox (Daredevil)

Daredevil born again image brightened

Oops! Daredevil: Born Again isn’t even out yet but it seems we know Charlie Cox will be back soon after in Doomsday. The actor’s gym, DFRNT Health and Fitness, shared more than was probably wise in an Instagram post in December, in which a caption of the star working up a sweat read: “Charlie is currently training for his role in the upcoming @marvel Avengers movie where he will play @daredevil.” The caption eventually changed to “Charlie is currently training for a new role,” but Kevin Feige’s sniper’s weren’t quick enough for eagle-eyed Marvel fans.

Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster)

Now we’re in 2025, Avengers: Doomsday is starting to feel a little more real with Production Weekly sharing a new production listing which may just reveal a few juicy tidbits. Like, for instance, that filming is scheduled to begin in late March in London. What’s more, that the cast of Thunderbolts* will apparently feature, too. This would make a lot of sense, seeing as the dysfunctional dynamic of the anti-hero team makes them the obvious equivalents of the Guardians in Avengers: Infinity War.

Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch)

What’s more eyebrow-raising is the fact that Production Weekly also have Elizabeth Olsen listed among the cast. So far, Marvel has been doing its darndest to leave the exact fate of Wanda Maximoff up in the air, with even WandaVision spin-off Agatha All Along hedging its bets. With the window for a potential Scarlet Witch film narrowing, it seems Olsen’s grand comeback could occur in Doomsday itself.

Ana De Armas (???)

The most unexpected detail to come from Production Weekly, however, has to be the reference to Ana De Armas being “mentioned for a role” — no, I don’t know what that means either. Clearly, she’s not locked in just yet, but it would make sense for Chris Evans’ old pal and two-time former co-star to join him in Doomsday. Could De Armas be playing a key new character, or are we looking at another “Peter Dinklage pops up in Infinity War and is never seen again” sitch here?

‘OH SHE KNOWS SOMETHING’: Kathryn Hahn’s Golden Globes comments has Marvel fans expecting some big ‘Agatha All Along’ news https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/oh-she-knows-something-kathryn-hahns-golden-globes-comments-has-marvel-fans-expecting-some-big-agatha-all-along-news/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/oh-she-knows-something-kathryn-hahns-golden-globes-comments-has-marvel-fans-expecting-some-big-agatha-all-along-news/#respond Mon, 06 Jan 2025 18:52:24 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1820241 Has the ballad really ended? ]]>

Agatha All Along might’ve come away empty-handed from this weekend’s Golden Globes ceremony, but that doesn’t mean Marvel fans should feel despondent. The fact that the critically acclaimed Disney Plus series earned the nomination that it did offers a big ol’ hint that there’s more on the way from Agatha Harkness and her chaotic coven, and Kathryn Hahn teased the possibility of some exciting news to come on the night itself.

Hahn earned her first ever Golden Globes nomination for her turn as the ambiguously wicked witch, but it’s actually the specific category she was nominated for that fans should pay attention to. The WandaVision spinoff’s star faced stiff competition in the race for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series, and although she lost to Hacks‘ Jean Smart, the fact that Marvel chose to categorize Agatha this way rather than as a Limited Series may be an even bigger win.

One clip of Hahn teasing what this could mean on the event’s red carpet went viral, as Westview warriors suggested the actress knows more than she’s saying. “That is a great question, none of us have any idea,” Hahn said when asked about the chances of more Agatha. “But it certainly is… Our ears are perked up, for sure.” Fans weren’t buying the Parks & Recreation alum pleading the fifth. “OH SHE KNOWS SOMETHING,” read @wandasattorney’s caption.

Does Kathryn Hahn really know something about the future of Agatha?

On the one hand, Hahn may well be speaking the truth when claiming that none of the show’s cast, and probably also crew, know anything about an Agatha All Along season 2. We’re aware all too well that Marvel takes its sweet, sweet time in greenlighting more episodes of its TV series — see the mystery surrounding the fate of Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and others years after they premiered. That said, it’s highly likely that she knows at least something about where Agatha the characters goes next.

AAA ended with a huge status quo change for Ms. Harkness by going so far as to kill her off and then resurrect her as a ghost. It’s clear that the next leg of Agatha’s MCU journey will see her act as a spirit guide to Joe Locke’s Wiccan as he sets about finding his lost twin brother, Tommy/Speed. We’re expecting this to occur in the upcoming Vision Quest show, although it should be noted this hails from a different creative team than WV and AAA.

This was such a specific set-up for Agatha that it stands to reason Marvel has some particular plan in place for her, so Hahn has surely been given some heads-up over where she’ll appear next. No doubt she’ll have a cameo in Vision Quest, at the very least, with a role in the much-rumored Scarlet Witch movie also a possibility. In true Agatha style, Hahn may well be telling us the truth while simultaneously holding back the full facts.

Whatever happens, we’re unlikely to see Agatha again this calendar year, as Vision Quest isn’t scheduled to hit streaming until 2026. But, hang on in there, witches and warlocks — just remember there’s glory at the end.

‘We’re coming back’: Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan just promised us a ‘Captain America’ reunion. Your move, Marvel https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/were-coming-back-anthony-mackie-and-sebastian-stan-just-promised-us-a-captain-america-reunion-your-move-marvel/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/were-coming-back-anthony-mackie-and-sebastian-stan-just-promised-us-a-captain-america-reunion-your-move-marvel/#respond Mon, 06 Jan 2025 13:36:34 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1820013 Get Marvel on the phone, ASAP!]]>

One of the big winners at the 2025 Golden Globes was Sebastian Stan. The actor took home the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy award for his role in A Different Man, but it’s his bromance with Anthony Mackie that stole the show.

Mackie, the leading man of the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, was all smiles every time Stan was in view, or even mentioned. Their reunion immediately reignited hopes of a return to the screen, and Mackie’s comments after the ceremony didn’t help matters. Are we delusional to be excited about a possible reunion of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes in the MCU?

A promise of things to come?

In a very wholesome moment at last night’s ceremony, Anthony Mackie gleefully and wholeheartedly became Stan’s biggest fanboy. While in an interview speaking about his win, Stan was approached by a very happy Mackie. The new Captain America repeatedly chanted “we won” as he crashed Stan’s interview.

As they both celebrated, Sebastian Stan said some words that made Marvel fans perk up in excitement. “Captain America and the Winter Soldier, we’re coming back,” the actor yelled. Now, was he jesting, or did he actually mean what he said? Nobody knows for sure, but fans are elated nonetheless.

With Captain America: Brave New World being released on Valentine’s Day, Mackie’s return to the big screen is closer than ever. Stan himself is set to lead the pack in Thunderbolts, closing out Phase Five of the MCU in May. Evidently, we don’t have the answers to any of these questions right now, but Marvel, we urge you to give us fans what we want!

True to this, not new to this

While the MCU has suffered a noticeable decline in quality over the last few years, they have released some phenomenal stuff since their inception. From The Winter Soldier to Infinity War, it’s fair to say Marvel aficionados have eaten good. And, it has not escaped fans’ attention that both Stan and Mackie have appeared in some of the best Marvel releases over the years.

Back when Mackie’s character was still known as Falcon, he starred in Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside Stan. Since then, they have built their bromance brick by brick, sharing the screen in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The stuff of dreams

Shortly after WandaVision ended in March 2021, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier started airing on Disney Plus. It showed a new dynamic of the relationship shared by the partners-in-crime, with much of the love the fans have come to expect between the two superheroes first founded in this show.

However, six episodes just don’t cut it, and fans have been clamoring for more for four years, now. Unfortunately, their prayers remain unanswered. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is still the last time both Stan and Mackie starred in a Marvel release together. The end of the limited series saw Mackie’s character go from being The Falcon to becoming Captain America, and with Sam settling into the new mantle in his upcoming outing, getting to see Bucky’s reaction and endorsement is not just a want, but a deep need.

‘From first date to happily ever after’: Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are never beating the marriage allegations https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/from-first-date-to-happily-ever-after-anthony-mackie-and-sebastian-stan-are-never-beating-the-marriage-allegations/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/from-first-date-to-happily-ever-after-anthony-mackie-and-sebastian-stan-are-never-beating-the-marriage-allegations/#respond Mon, 06 Jan 2025 11:00:50 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1819932 Marvel needs to reunite these two for real.]]>

Move over Ben Affleck and Matt Damon… Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are the Hollywood besties we simply can’t get enough of.

As if having the troublesome pair as co-stars hasn’t been enough, these Captain Americas continue to show off their friendship every chance they get. In fact, they’ve got some fans believing they’re secretly in love with one another, and when they’re all smiles every time they’re next to one another, what’s not to love?

The first family America needs

At the Golden Globes, Mackie and Stan shared multiple bromance moments for the world to gush about. As Stan took home the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy award for A Different Man, Mackie cheered him on. But it’s their absolutely adorable photo outside the ceremony that’s got the internet talking!

Mackie’s signature smirk is on full display as he embraces his bestie in a photo that’s seriously giving off “just wedded” vibes! The comments, all in on the joke, couldn’t help but chip in. “They look like they belong on a Christmas card,” wrote a cheeky fan. Another wrote, “This is giving vows were exchanged behind the scenes,” and “Anthony grinning like he just got the first slice of wedding cake.” Joining the ranks is “This looks like the start of a Netflix series called Husbands in Harmony.”

But by far the best comment of the night goes to PJ the Trekkie, who sheepishly wrote, “From first date to happily ever after” while adding a photo of the pair from their Winter Soldier days. And honestly, we’d give anything to see these two bros back on our screen.

Reunited, and it feels so good!

Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes have been a mainstay in the Captain America film series, but the duo finally had enough time to shine in their very own series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Over six episodes, Mackie and Stan proved their chemistry was off their charts, and have since become the poster for Marvel’s many bromances. Heck, even Tom Holland wanted into the fold, but couldn’t match up against the famous pair. Years ago, Mackie revealed his nickname for Stan was “sexy seabass,” while Stan calls him “choclatino.” Now that’s love!

Both actors may no longer share screen time, but in the MCU’s new phase of new faces, box office flops, and uncertainty, it’s a wonderful treat that both Stan and Mackie are still involved. While it sucks that Bucky won’t appear in Brave New World, we’re going to see an even grittier side of the soldier in Thunderbolts. Both films will be released in 2025, with Brave New World set for a Valentine’s Day release, and Thunderbolts making its way on May 2.

As both films will join the lineup for the final films of the MCU’s Phase Five, there’s a lot riding on this! Thankfully, both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes have a decent enough fanbase to drive up viewership and box office numbers. And if we’re lucky enough, there could be more of the duo in the future, and this time, back together again!

Let’s hope ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is better than Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s awkward Golden Globes moment https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/lets-hope-captain-america-brave-new-world-is-better-than-anthony-mackie-and-harrison-fords-awkward-golden-globes-moment/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/lets-hope-captain-america-brave-new-world-is-better-than-anthony-mackie-and-harrison-fords-awkward-golden-globes-moment/#respond Mon, 06 Jan 2025 08:14:17 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1819867 "Harrison Ford just wants to go home."]]>

Fans have reacted to Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford’s awkward presenting slot at the Golden Globes, and predicted what it could mean for their co-starring roles in Captain America: Brave New World

The pair attended the star-studded ceremony to present the award for Best Animated Picture. The trophy ultimately went to Flow, but not before Mackie and Ford engaged in an awkward exchange that left the latter looking seriously annoyed, at least according to some onlookers. After giving a shout-out to fellow Marvel actor Sebastian Stan — who had just won for his role in A Different Man — Mackie paused the preamble to allow Ford to speak.

He then interrupted the Hollywood veteran not once, but twice, to deliver a makeshift drum roll sound effect. It got some laughs from the audience, but Ford seemed entirely unamused, going as far as to push Mackie away from the microphone to announce the winner. Of course, it’s probably the case that this was a planned comedic bit, with Ford relying on his ever-trusty solemn persona to play off Mackie’s boyish charm. However, the jokey moment evidently didn’t land for some viewers.

“Harrison Ford is so done with Anthony Mackie lol,” one X user wrote, with another adding that “Harrison Ford just wants to go home.” Others said the Blade Runner star “just shows up to awards shows to look grumpy as s***,” or more broadly suggested that Ford is “not a big fan of” Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser, who made a joke about the actor smoking marijuana. Regardless of how it landed, fans shouldn’t fret too much about the chemistry between Mackie and Ford ahead of Brave New World, since the former actor has been nothing but positive about his experience working with Ford for the film.

Speaking on the Golden Globes red carpet about Ford, Mackie — who takes the reins from Chris Evans for the film — said he “was surprised at how normal [Ford] was.” The actor went on to compliment Ford, who will play Thaddeus Ross/Thunderbolt, for his ability to “just chill with us like a regular person” despite his “big star” status.

The Hollywood legend took on the character after William Hurt, who originated the role in the MCU, passed away in 2022. Mackie and Ford’s presenter slot wasn’t the only one to cause a stir, with Vin Diesel enduring an awkward moment after reviving a years-old beef with his Fast and Furious co-star Dwayne Johnson. Elsewhere, Andrew Garfield got tongues wagging with the simple act of putting his glasses on, and Kieran Culkin set himself up for awards season success with a deserved win for A Real Pain.

If all that wasn’t enough, we also got an appearance from the winners of the look-alike contests for Glen Powell and Timothée Chalamet, proving that this year’s bingo card will be just as head-scratching as 2024’s. Speaking of, I need to go and tick off “look-alike appears at Golden Globes” and “Andrew Garfield inspires the internet’s thirst” off my 2025 card.

‘I’m gonna disappoint you’: No, Andrew Garfield will not appear in ‘Spider-Man 4’, but can he be trusted? https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/im-gonna-disappoint-you-no-andrew-garfield-will-not-appear-in-spider-man-4-but-can-he-be-trusted/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/marvel/im-gonna-disappoint-you-no-andrew-garfield-will-not-appear-in-spider-man-4-but-can-he-be-trusted/#respond Mon, 06 Jan 2025 08:01:14 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1819789 “No one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.”]]>

Despite widespread rumors to the contrary, Andrew Garfield has now denied that he’ll appear in the fourth installment of Marvel’s Tom Holland-led Spider-Man franchise.

The actor — who played Peter Parker in Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man series before reprising the role in Marvel’s No Way Home — discussed the possibility of donning the spider suit once more in a recent interview with GQ UK. Garfield has remained tight-lipped about his involvement in the franchise ever since joining Tobey Maguire in the multiverse-jumping No Way Home, but his new comments go some way in explaining what we can expect of him in regards to Spider-Man 4.

When asked whether he had already signed on to appear in the sequel — which we already know will star Holland and Zendaya — the actor preempted fans’ sadness, saying “I’m gonna disappoint you.” He then revealed that “no,” he hasn’t yet been confirmed to appear in Spider-Man 4, adding that “no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.” That last part is in reference to Garfield’s notorious 2021 interviews in which he consistently denied speculation of a cameo in No Way Home only to appear on the big screen upon its eventual release.

While the comments might come to the dismay of Marvel stans eager to see Garfield in the anticipated four-quel, it’s worth remembering that the actor was responding to whether he had signed on to the project, not whether he had been ruled out of an appearance altogether. It’s also worth noting that, as was the case in 2021 and as pointed out by the actor himself, Garfield is likely sworn to secrecy around any hard confirmation of his casting, such is the iron-clad contractual obligation of Marvel Studios.

In any case, Garfield didn’t rule out the possibility of an appearance in the film on a personal level, saying he would agree to portray the web-slinger “if it felt in line with my soul and was gonna be fun.” Beyond the fun, the actor also said he would accept the role with an eye on the money-making potential it could secure for his future. “Maybe I’m gonna have like five kids at some point,” Garfield said, “and I’m gonna need to start saving up for the school tuition or something.”

It comes amid a flurry of speculation as to whether Spider-Man 4 will enlist the Peter Parkers’ of yore for the new entry, with a supposed and unconfirmed leak claiming in November that Garfield will return to the franchise alongside Michael Keaton as Vulture and Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Before that, he reiterated in October that he would be open to reprising the role, and again fueled rumors after flashing a web-slinging hand gesture on the red carpet. Garfield isn’t the only actor whom fans have wishfully attached to Spider-Man 4, with the names of both Maguire and Emma Stone (who played Gwen Stacey opposite Garfield) floating around ahead of the film’s scheduled 2026 release.

More broadly, we know that both Holland and Zendaya have read the scripts for the upcoming film, and they’ll have to juggle their filming schedules with their concurrent roles in Christopher Nolan’s new movie. More recently, Spider-Man 4 producer Amy Pascal revealed last month that the film will focus on the title character “being Spider-Man, because being Peter Parker was too hard.”
